The Unobtainium Podcast with Oz Khan: Strategy, Achievement and Personal Development

Mar 31, 2022

This episode originally aired in 2020, it has been re-released as a set of "best of" episodes for new listeners as an addendum to episode 14, and those who wouldn't mind catching some of the episodes again prior to heading into the next round.

Babylon Healthcare has recently gone public on the New York Stock Exchange and has gone from strength to strength particularly through the pandemic.

Ali Parsa has a huge international profile with a clear vision to deliver accessible and affordable healthcare across planet earth.

He’s recently been valued in the Times as a billionaire yet retains a sense of perspective and humbleness with a clear missionary vision and values to change access to healthcare across the planet.

The slant I took for this interview was twofold,

(1) for the listener to understand about Babylon healthcare, it’s products and how it intends to change healthcare on planet earth, with an NHS slant for our UK listeners and

(2) to understand the tools and techniques entrepreneurs like Ali Parsa use – which ultimately at this moment in time has driven Babylon and Ali Parsa from millions to billions in value, incredible for a company that was formed in just 2013.

Top quotes:

On AI in healthcare: "What is amazing to me, is we can do that for a peasant in Rwanda, in a same way that we could do it for a City Managing Director in Central London, right? That's the true democratisation of healthcare."

"Can we do we with healthcare, what Google did with information? Can we make it accessible, affordable, put it in the hands of every human being on earth" - the vision for Babylon Healthcare.

"If you and I were playing a game of chess, and today you will not using artificial intelligence and God forbid, you're a gambler and gambling your family's life on it, you will be negligent..." on using AI to support clinical decisions.
